Director Margarida Cardoso visits Ankara to present her “Yvone Kane”
With the sponsorship of the Embassy of Portugal and the Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, the 18th Flying Broom Film Festival, one of the most prestigious women’s film festivals in Europe and the only of its kind to award a FIPRESCI award, will include in its program the latest movie of Portuguese director Margarida Cardoso, “Yvone Kane” - written by the director herself.
The film is set against the backdrop of the story of Yvone Kane, a former guerrilla and political activist in an unspecified African country, where a mother crosses paths with her daughter; each is struggling – in her own way, and for a different set of reasons – with specters of death.
This is the 10th movie of Margarida Cardoso that started off as a director in 1996 with “Two Dragons” and since then has won 3 international awards and was nominated for two other.
Margarida Cardoso will be in Ankara attending the festival, which takes place between 8 and 18 of May.
